SPREAD THE WORD
Richard "Furly" Fusco was born October 3, 1968 with Cystic Fibrosis. He lived a typical life as a person with Cystic Fibrosis. Like most CF patients he suffered through numerous visits to the hospital and had to take a significant amount of medication just to stay alive. At the last possible moment Richard received a double lung transplant in his thirties significantly improving his quality of life. However, after a period of time his new lungs began to deteriorate, his diabetes worsened, and the poor condition of his kidneys caused him to spend three days a week in dialysis.
Throughout all of this Richard always had a positive attitude and worked with younger CF patients to provide council and advice. He spoke at many events and supported other CF related events throughout his life. During the past three years of his life, Richard used his iPad to communicate with his family, stay in touch with friends, watch movies, play games, video conference, read, and watch TV. This device fundamentally enhanced the last few years of Richard's life. We want to provide this opportunity and technology to CF patients nationally.
Its hard for children with CF to deal with their frequent doctors office or hospital visits. The iPad can help make these visits more tolerable.
The Richard S. Fusco Foundation helps young children with Cystic Fibrosis stay connected to family and friends and school through mobile technology
How it all Started
- OUR STORY
Having Cystic Fibrosis can make you feel isolated from friends, family, and others. Tablet computers allow CF patients to stay in touch with their world
Long and frequent visits in the hospital can make it hard to keep up with school work. This technology can make it easier to keep in touch with teachers and classmates.
We have provided iPads to young Cystic Fibrosis patients in five states thanks to your generosity. Unfortunately there are many more children to help. I personally guarantee 100% of your donations will go directly to children with Cystic Fibrosis and will be delivered directly to them in the hospital.
